The Marina Coast Water District (MCWD) is a public agency and, therefore, not bound by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) regulations. The CCPA applies only to for-profit entities that conduct business in California and meet one of the following criteria: (1) have an annual gross revenue of more than $25 million; (2) engage in the commercial purchase, receipt, sale, or sharing of personal information from 50,000 or more consumers, households or devices annually; or (3) derive 50% or more of their annual revenue from the sale of consumers' personal information. Businesses that share common branding with an entity that satisfies these criteria are also included. (Cal. Civ. Code ยง 1798.140(c).)
