The Marina Coast Water District (MCWD) is a public agency and, therefore, not bound by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) regulations. The CCPA applies only to for-profit entities that conduct business in California and meet one of the following criteria: (1) have an annual gross revenue of more than $25 million; (2) engage in the commercial purchase, receipt, sale, or sharing of personal information from 50,000 or more consumers, households or devices annually; or (3) derive 50% or more of their annual revenue from the sale of consumers' personal information. Businesses that share common branding with an entity that satisfies these criteria are also included. (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.140(c).)
